WDA Supports Reproductive Justice

The following is a letter sent to the Princeton University School of Architecture on Thursday, June 30th.

To our SoA community:

Womxn in Design and Architecture (WDA) writes to affirm our support of reproductive justice and bodily autonomy for all. We stand for the freedom of choice for all bodies.

On Friday, June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, the landmark case protecting Americans’ constitutional right to abortion for nearly fifty years.

The Supreme Court case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is not isolated from architecture. The health, safety, and human welfare that the architectural profession promotes begins at the level of human rights. As students, makers, and architects of the built environment, we remain committed to designing spaces rooted in equity and justice.

WDA is hosting the following resource on our website, available to be shared widely with all people curious about the intersection of abortion and architecture:

ARCHITECTURE + ABORTION

In solidarity,

Womxn in Design and Architecture
